Indiana Woman Wins EWGA Championship Finals for 2nd Consecutive Year in 2015

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. - The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) has crowned Katie Brinker of Greenwood, Indiana as the medalist of the 2015 EWGA Championship, successfully defending her 2014 Championship title. The 30-year old from the EWGA Central Indiana Chapter shot a pair of 73s for a 146 total on the Pete Dye Course at the Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, California on Oct. 30-31. Three shots back, noted California state amateur golfer Lynne Cowen of the Sacramento, CA Chapter took second place low gross and the low net winner in the Championship Flight went to Robin Banner of the Greater Knoxville, TN Chapter with a two-day net score of 143.

Celebrating its 20th year, the EWGA Championship is one of the largest women’s amateur golf competitions in the nation for all skill levels, including stroke play competition and team scramble competition. More than 2,500 EWGA members participated in local qualifying events and advanced to one of 15 district semi-final championships held throughout the summer. This year 223 members from 78 EWGA Chapters in 36 states, Canada and Bermuda advanced to the EWGA Championship Finals, a two-day, 36-hole event held at the Troon-managed Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa.


The low gross champions also include the First Flight’s Kelly Garrison (87-28/165) from the Fresno/San Joaquin, CA Chapter; Second Flight’s Tanya Boysen (85-84/169) representing the San Francisco Bay Area, CA Chapter; Third Flight’s Christine Maffey (86-91/177) from the Central Pennsylvania Chapter; and Fourth Flight's Sherri Snyder (97-106/203) of the Columbus, Ohio Chapter. Winning the Scramble Division was Catherine Ford, Kimberly Byle, Patricia Fox and Christine Daywalt from EWGA’s Tampa Bay Area Florida Chapter carding a two day total of 68-64/132.

Notable scores from the low net winners include First Flight’s Suzi McBride of the Greater Toronto, Canada Chapter (net 65-68/133); Second Flight’s Deborah Ladig, Miami-Dade County Chapter (net 63-63/126); Third Flight's Jean Ziller (net 68-58/126) from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Chapter; and Fourth Flight's Katherine Labrie (net 64-61/125) from Greater Springfield, Massachusetts Chapter.

Another highlight was the hole-in-one scored by Donna Whitcomb of the Quad-Cities Iowa Chapter on the 86 yard hole #15 of the Gary Player Course. The first place low gross and net winners earn an exemption into the 2016 EWGA Championship Finals to be held at the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia.

EWGA TOPS Nashville Charts in 2014

(Old Hickory, TN) The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) crowned Katie (Tewell) Brinker the 2014 EWGA Championship Finals Champion at The Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee on Saturday evening October 11, 2014, with husband Zach on the bag as her caddie. With four consecutive birdies starting at the 312-yard, par 4, 15th hole to finish her final round, the 29-year old medalist begins her reign over EWGA’s 14,000 members.
